![]() Oklahoma City residents have plenty to look forward to each year. The Thunder bringing their A game to the Peake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra bringing down the house every December, and that warm summertime air mixed with food trucks and tasty cold beer. Of course I am talking about the monthly event we all know and love as "H&8th". I myself have a liking for cold beer, tasty food, summer time, and meeting new people, so H&8th is absolutely the spot for me. My friends, if you are looking for something to do at least once a month this year while the weather allows for it, you absolutely need to do yourself a favor and head out to H&8th, just make sure you invite me along with. When H&8th was founded back in 2011 it was just a small setup with just a few trucks and just a few more people. In 2014 it grew to become the nations largest food truck festival drawing in crowds upwards of 40,000 during the month. The name H&8th is actually cleverly drawn from the events location, which is centered around Hudson Avenue (H) and NW 8th street (8th). Of course, there is far more to this event other than just one little intersection. Other than incredible food and cold drinks this is actually a nice place for singles to go out and mingle. Just think about it. Summertime means everyone is on their A game, good food, cold drinks, music, the atmosphere is ripe for starting something new and exciting with maybe your future boo thang! Just make sure they don't become your future EX because then I will feel as though I have contributed to the wreckage and I can't live with that on my conscious. Anybody that knows midtown should know that you cannot have a massive food truck festival without tasty craft beers, and thankfully Anthem Brewing Co. delivers the goods at H&8th. If you have never heard of Anthem its probably because you don't venture off the rails very much when it comes to your beer of choice, or maybe you aren't a local. I personally do not know much about Anthems history but I do know that they have a loyal following, a couple really attractive sales associates, and a tremendously adorable dog named Tank. In any case, if an event like H&8th decides to mark you down as the premier go to vendor for brewskis, then you must be doing something right. Do you want to know the best thing about this event? It is completely not for profit and volunteer organized event. Awesome right? This whole ordeal was started by a woman named Laura Massenat and the entire goal was to bring people together for a good time, but also so they could see the up and coming midtown area and all that it had to offer. For you hipsters and green thinking individuals, they also offer bicycle valet. So pedal your way down to H&8th and have your bike valet parked. I think its safe to say that whether you are single and ready to mingle, or whether you and your special someone just want a place to go have a drink and wind down, H&8th should absolutely be on your list of things to do and places to go. Just tell em The Review sent you, and as always OKC, Stay Classy!
